Huerfano Hometown Heroes
Local People Honoring Local Soldiers

Our Mission:
Huerfano Hometown Heroes recognizes and honors local men and women serving us and our country by increasing awareness of those actively serving in the military from this area and providing opportunities to encourage them through postcards, notes and needed/wanted items to deployed soldiers, their units and platoons.

About Us:
Huerfano County is located in Southern Colorado at the foot of the spectacular Spanish Peaks.  It includes the towns of Walsenburg, LaVeta, Cuchara and Gardner.  Family, friends, neighbors and interested residents have gathered to support our deployed and active duty troops to remind them how grateful we are for what they do for us.

Meeting News

Spear headed by Juanita Bailey, the first monthly meeting was held 7-14-09 to organize and
plan a letter writing campaign and gift box delivery to troops whose families reside in our
communities.  It is a wonderful way to let the home town men and women know they are
kept in our hearts and minds while they are away from home.

If you would like to make a difference, jump up off the couch or take a breather from your hectic
life for an hour and come join us!
